Your Roadmap to a DWC Trade License

Getting your business license in Dubai World Central (DWC) is a structured process. While the government has made it faster than ever, missing a single document can cause delays. We act as your guide to ensure your company is set up correctly the first time in the DWC Freezone.

Follow our 5-step proven roadmap to go from an idea to a fully operational UAE company.

Strategic Planning & Activity Selection

Before applying, we help you choose the right legal structure (like an FZE or a Branch) and the exact business activities for your setup in the DWC Freezone.

  • Why it matters: Your bank will look at these activities to decide if it can open your corporate account. We pick "bank-friendly" activities to save you time later.

Trade Name Reservation

We submit your top three name choices to the Dubai South authorities.

  • The Rule: The name must be unique, not offensive, and must not include "UAE" or "Dubai" without special permission.

Initial Approval & Legal Paperwork

Once the name is approved, we prepare the Memorandum of Association (MOA) and gather your passport copies. We handle the submission to the DWC portal so you don’t have to deal with the technical portals yourself.

Choosing Your Office Space

Every DWC license needs a physical address.

  • Smart Desk: Best for startups (allows for 2 visas).
  • Permanent Office: For teams needing dedicated space.
  • Warehouse: For companies moving physical goods.

License Issuance & Visa Processing

After the lease is signed, the DWC authority issues your Trade License. We then immediately start your Establishment Card and your residency visa process, including the medical test and Emirates ID.

We don’t just leave you with a folder of documents; we provide the “hard stuff”—the essential support that keeps your business legal, tax-efficient, and operational within the DWC Freezone. Our experts ensure that your presence in DWC Dubai is fully compliant with all local regulations.

UAE Corporate Tax Compliance

Since the introduction of the Federal Corporate Tax, DWC companies must follow strict rules to keep their tax benefits.

  • The Goal: We guide you on how to achieve "Qualifying Free Zone Person" (QFZP) status.
  • The Benefit: If you meet the "Adequate Substance" rules (having a real office and staff in DWC), we help ensure you pay 0% tax on your qualifying international income.
  • The Safety Net: We manage your tax registration and ensure you don’t accidentally fall into the 9% tax bracket while operating in the DWC freezone.

VAT Registration & Filing

If your company’s sales or expenses go over AED 375,000, you must register for VAT.

  • For Logistics & Traders: DWC is a "Designated Zone," which means many goods moved between other designated zones are VAT-free.
  • Our Service: We handle your VAT registration with the Federal Tax Authority (FTA) and manage your quarterly filings so you never face late-payment fines.

Corporate Banking Assistance

Opening a bank account is often the most difficult part of setting up in Dubai.

  • Strategic Partnerships: We leverage our close relationships with Tier-1 banks like Emirates NBD, Mashreq, and Wio to get your application noticed.
  • Fast-Track Onboarding: We prepare your "Bank-Ready" business profile and KYC (Know Your Customer) documents to prove your business is real and ready to trade.

Annual Audit & License Renewal

To renew your DWC license every year, you are required to submit an Annual Audit Report.

  • Compliance: We connect you with DWC-approved auditors who ensure your financial statements follow IFRS standards.
  • Peace of Mind: This audit is also a requirement to keep your 0% Corporate Tax status. We make sure your books are ready long before the deadline.

FAQ's

Can a DWC company trade on the UAE mainland?

Yes, but with specific conditions. As a DWC  FreeZone entity, you can trade freely both internationally and within Free Zones. To sell goods or services directly to the UAE mainland (outside the Free Zone), you can:

  1. Work through a local distributor or agent.
  2. Establish a Mainland Branch of your company within the DWC Freezone.
  3. Utilize the 2026 Dual Licensing framework, which allows Free Zone companies to apply for a linked permit to operate onshore in certain sectors.

For most general trading and service licenses, there is no requirement to deposit upfront capital in a bank to get your license. While your legal documents (MOA) will state a share capital (typically AED 300,000 divided into shares of AED 1 each), you do not need to show a bank proof-of-deposit during the setup phase. Note: Certain specialized sectors, like Aviation or heavy industrial manufacturing,g may have different requirements.

Yes. Dubai World Central (DWC) was the original name of the project. It was later rebranded as Dubai South to reflect its status as a complete city. Most government portals and legal documents still use “DWC” as the official Free Zone authority name.

All UAE companies must now register for Corporate Tax. However, companies in the DWC freezone that maintain “Adequate Substance” (a physical office and local operations) and earn “Qualifying Income” from international trade or other Free Zone businesses can still enjoy a 0% Corporate Tax rate. We provide a full tax assessment to ensure you qualify for this exemption.

Your visa quota depends on the size of your office.

  • Smart Desk: Typically allows for 2 residency visas.
  • Permanent Office: Generally follows the rule of 1 visa per 9 square meters of space. We can help you apply for a quota increase if your business growth requires more staff.

Setting up in the Dubai World Central Free Zone offers unmatched strategic advantages, especially for businesses in logistics, aviation, and e-commerce. Key benefits include:

  • Proximity to Al Maktoum International Airport: Direct access to one of the world’s largest hubs for global trade.
  • Seamless Logistics: Integrated sea-to-air corridors that significantly reduce transit times for cargo.
  • Flexible Office Solutions: From Smart Desks for startups to massive industrial plots for manufacturing.
  • 100% Ownership: Full foreign ownership and 100% repatriation of capital and profits.
  • Future-Ready Infrastructure: Enhanced digital government services for 2026 that make license renewals and visa processing faster than ever.
